Dhaka, April 05, 2026 — The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) enters a new phase today with the implementation of revised operational and trading hours. Alongside these structural changes, several listed companies have released critical updates regarding board meetings, dividend processing, and factory inspections that investors should monitor closely.
New Trading Hours and Regulatory Caution
Starting today, April 5, 2026, the DSE has officially shifted its office hours to 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with the new trading window set from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In tandem with these changes, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has issued a standard regulatory message urging investors to remain vigilant. The regulator advises the public to avoid making decisions based on market rumors and instead focus on fundamental analysis and official disclosures.
Corporate Actions and Dividend Processing
Investors in British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATBC) should note that the company has requested brokerage houses to submit their margin holder lists by April 9, 2026, to facilitate dividend processing following its recent record date. Meanwhile, Unilever Consumer Care (UNILEVERCL) will see its trading suspended on April 6, 2026, for its own record date. Conversely, Pioneer Insurance is set to resume trading tomorrow after a temporary suspension.
Major Corporate Developments
- RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Ltd: In a show of confidence, Sponsor Shareholder and Managing Director SAK Ekramuzzaman has announced his intention to purchase 500,000 shares of the company at prevailing market prices.
- Sonali Life Insurance: Effective April 6, 2026, the company will officially be known as ‘Sonali Life Insurance PLC’ with the new trading code SLIPLC.
- PLFSL: People’s Leasing and Financial Services Limited has clarified its position following a DSE query regarding media reports about the company’s potential revival and return to normal operations.
Upcoming Board Meetings and Earnings
Two significant board meetings are on the horizon. Atlas Bangladesh (ATLASBANG) will meet on April 8 to consider its Q3 un-audited financial statements. Additionally, Pragati Insurance has scheduled a meeting for April 12 to review its audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025.
Inspection Reports: Factory Status Updates
Recent DSE inspections have revealed mixed results regarding industrial operations. While Dominage Steel Building Systems was found to have an operational unit in Ashulia, its Polash, Narsingdi unit was found closed. More concerningly, an inspection of Pacific Denims Limited (PDL) confirmed that the factory was closed during a visit conducted in late 2025, a factor that long-term investors should weigh heavily.
Fixed Income Update
For treasury bond investors, the record date for the coupon payment of the 05Y BGTB 15/04/2029 (Trading Code: TB5Y0429) has been set for April 13, 2026.
